2. General information

We process personal data only within the scope of the applicable law (GDPR, BDSG, TDDDG, DDG). Depending on the operation, the legal basis is Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (consent), Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (contract or pre-contractual steps), or Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest). This website uses TLS/SSL encryption; content you submit to us is transmitted encrypted. SEO metadata and structured data are generated locally on our server (Yoast SEO plugin); no data is transferred to third parties in the process. We do not offer a comment function.

3. Hosting and server log files

This website is hosted by STRATO GmbH, Otto-Ostrowski-Straße 7, 10249 Berlin, Germany (provider’s privacy information: https://www.strato.de/datenschutz/). A data processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR is in place with the provider. When you visit the website, the server automatically processes log files: IP address, date and time of access, requested page, browser type and version, operating system, and referrer URL. This data is processed to ensure stable and secure operation (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) and is normally deleted automatically within seven days at the latest, unless a security-related analysis is required.

4. Cookies and consent management

This website only uses technically necessary cookies; we do not use tracking or advertising cookies. To manage consent for any externally embedded content we use the WordPress plugin Complianz, which stores your choice in a cookie on your device (legal bases: Sect. 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG and Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR — legitimate interest in being able to demonstrate given consent). You can revoke or adjust your consent at any time via the cookie settings.

5. Contact form and email contact

If you write to us via the contact form, we process the data you provide (name, email address, optional subject, message) to handle your request. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR where your request relates to a (potential) contractual relationship, and otherwise your consent under Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, which you give via the mandatory checkbox in the form. The data is sent by email to our mailbox (info@eclipsion.games). We delete the correspondence once it is no longer required for processing your request, normally at the latest upon expiry of the standard German civil limitation period of three years; statutory retention obligations remain unaffected.

6. Spam protection

To protect the contact form against abusive submissions we use the plugin “AntiSpam for Contact Form 7”. The check (based on technical characteristics of the submission and the IP address, among other things) runs entirely locally on our server; no data is transferred to external services. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in preventing spam and abuse (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

7. Newsletter

For our newsletter we process your email address and the language version of the page through which you subscribe (German or English), so we can send you the newsletter in the matching language. Registration uses a double opt-in procedure: you receive a confirmation email and are only subscribed after clicking the confirmation link. The legal basis for sending the newsletter is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). To prove that consent was given, we log the time of registration and confirmation and the IP address used; this logging is based on our legitimate interest in being able to demonstrate valid consent (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR in conjunction with Art. 7(1) GDPR). The IP address used at registration is stored as part of the subscriber record for the duration of the subscription. Sending takes place via our own WordPress installation (plugin “The Newsletter Plugin”); your data remains on our server and is not transferred to newsletter service providers. Our newsletters contain no tracking pixels and no click tracking. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link contained in every email; your data will then be removed from the mailing list promptly, normally within one month, unless retention is required as proof of compliance.

8. Reach measurement (Statify)

For reach measurement we use the Statify plugin. Statify sets no cookies and itself stores no personal data: it counts page views purely as aggregate values, without storing IP addresses or user profiles; to that extent no personal data is processed. Insofar as your IP address is briefly processed technically when the page is delivered (see section 3), this is based on our legitimate interest in operating and statistically evaluating our website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

9. External links to social media

Our website contains plain links (no embedded content or trackers) to our channels on Discord, Reddit, YouTube, Twitch, and TikTok. Simply visiting our website transfers no data to these providers; only when you click a link do the privacy policies of the respective provider apply.

10. Locally hosted fonts

This website uses the Cormorant Garamond typeface (regular and italic), served locally from our own server. No connection to Google Fonts or other external font services takes place.

11. Your rights

You have the right to access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16 GDPR), erasure (Art. 17 GDPR), restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR), data portability (Art. 20 GDPR), and to object to processing based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (Art. 21 GDPR). You may revoke any consent you have given at any time with effect for the future. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority; the authority responsible for us is the Landesbeauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit Nordrhein-Westfalen (LDI NRW), Kavalleriestraße 2–4, 40213 Düsseldorf, Germany, www.ldi.nrw.de.

12. Storage period

Unless a more specific storage period is stated in this policy, personal data remains with us until the purpose of processing no longer applies, you revoke your consent, or you validly object to processing. Statutory retention obligations (e.g. under tax and commercial law) remain unaffected.

13. Changes to this privacy policy

We update this privacy policy whenever our data processing or the legal situation changes. The version published on this page applies.
